Plus This Month's Content Calendar We Are Referencing
If you're anything like me, your Google search bar is full of "what's trending this week," "trends on Instagram," or even "trends on TikTok that my business can actually use." While original content is a priority, trends give you the opportunity to skyrocket your reach and add some personality to your brand. Here is a roundup of what is trending on social media in April.
Topics
NASA
On Wednesday, April 1, four astronauts began their 10-day mission to loop around the moon. They will travel the farthest any human has gone in the first deep-space mission since 1972. Artemis II has been a hot topic in the news for science enthusiasts and anyone interested in this historic moment for humankind. Google Trends reports an 800% increase in searches for NASA in just the last 7 days.
From Krispy Kreme’s themed donuts, social media graphics of products “floating” in space, and even NASA’s own astronauts posting their own “Full House” intro, the opportunity for content is historic and iconic.

How can you join this topic?
Embrace Space! Wordplay on “moon,” “space,” and “gravity” offers copywriting tricks to engage those watching this phenomenon. Cheeky graphics of your products in space or being “found” on the dark side of the moon play into what the whole world is paying attention to. If it falls into your brand voice, adding some out-of-this-world content may have an extra booster to your reach this month.
MLB Opening Day
The New York Yankees faced off with the San Francisco Giants in the first MLB Opening Game that streamed exclusively on Netflix. The streaming giant reports that the campaign gained “200M owned global social media impressions and 6M engagements” as of April 1.
Social media trends around the MLB season range from team fan posts, game recaps, and ballpark outfits.
How can your business join the baseball season?
Boutiques and clothing brands can offer their own “must-haves” for a day at the ballpark, restaurants and cafes can create fan-mixed specials, and anyone can re-create iconic moments from games as they happen.

*A note on viral moments: While trending content can boost visibility, brands should carefully evaluate the potential impact on individuals and their own reputation. Viral moments such as the Coldplay Kiss Cam incident can quickly escalate beyond intent, sometimes leading to real harm for those involved. One individual reported receiving death threats in the wake of the viral fallout. We encourage you to prioritize responsible content choices. Impressions should never come at the expense of people or brand integrity.
Kit Kats
A sweet twist for social media numbers, a tragic break for inventory management. On March 28, KitKat reported 12 tons of chocolate was stolen out of Italy. The classic text-over-brand-color-background post took over commerce giants all over social media. Even Tampa Bay’s own Tampa International Airport hopped on the hype.
This ties in with another long-running trend of using the “serious announcement” style graphic in a satirical post just to stop the scroll and grab your audience’s attention.
For your company, this is a rare moment where a quick graphic can increase reach and show your audience that you’re paying attention to their feeds. Do you have a chocolate-loving mascot? Did you find a large bag of KitKat wrappers in your CEO’s office? The key to joining this conversation is creating content that stops the scroll.
Earth Day 4/22
Earth Day is happening on Wednesday, April 22, this year. This is the perfect time to remind your audience of actionable sustainability practices within your company or earth-friendly offerings. How does this translate to social media content?
People love to see people. Use Earth Day as an opportunity to show the people behind your brand doing something positive for the community. Join a clean-up, host a clean-up, tour audiences through sustainable practices within your company, showcase products that can help customers go green.
TikTok Content Ideas

Little Things Trend
This cozy moment trend reached 91.8k uses on April 6 with an upward trend based on TikTok’s Creator Insights.
Use a simple clip of b-roll from your business with these hooks to hop on the positive moment:
Little things that make me happy
Everyday things that make me happy
It’s the little things
3 Photo Trend
What started around 24.k uses last month hit 298k on April 6. To create this TikTok:
Add a new post, change the template to a 3-part vertical grid (under the stopwatch icon in the top right)
Add 3 photos, or live photos for movement.
Make sure to write “3 Photo Trend” in the on-screen captions.
Bonus points if you let TikTok pick the audio!

Loving Life Again Trend
Ella Langley is having her moment with an uplifting song that perfectly captures the sentiments of taking ownership of lives.
This trend is better suited towards content creators and influencers; brands should tread carefully due to copyright. Langley’s music is owned by Sony Music Publishing Nashville and Columbia Records.
Brands can still hop on the sentiment with royalty-free audio and on-screen captions like “and just like that, I’m back to loving life again” with footage of customers enjoying their establishment.
Instagram Content Ideas
Color Walk Trend

Social media is in its mindful era. Intentional screen-free time is the trend, and Instagram has lots of inspiration. For this, pick a color and go for a walk, photographing or noting down where you see that color. For businesses, you can take a walk around your area, inside the store, or even behind the scenes.
This is Who (Baby Photos Trend)
We’re all kids at heart, and this trend is a perfect reminder of the humans behind the brand. The Florida Children’s Museum is one of many brands that joined the trend, supporting their mission to curate the world for kids, and ultimately showing them what growing up can be like. This trend is simple to execute, just add text over baby photos of staff that reads “this is who ___” with a one-sentence summary of their job.
*Note: That is definitely me as a kid at Explorations V (what became Florida Children's Museum). It was a full-circle moment. This post was created in my role as a part-time employee of FCM, not through Night Bloom Media.
Hold [here] to Go Faster Trend
In March of 2025, Instagram added the feature to hold the top right corner of a reel to speed it up to 2x. Since then, users have found creative ways to incorporate this feature for an interactive reel.
You can recreate this trend by recording any activity (we recommend about 30 seconds) being done at a slower-than-average speed.
Post with instructions on where to hold to speed them up! It could be a barista making drinks, the copier taking too long to print, or staff leaving the door for the day!

Give Me A Sign Trend
Social media is a place to foster a sense of belonging, and what better way than to get the universe involved.
In this trend, simply post a shot with the text “I asked the universe for a sign ____” (insert the solution your company provides), then a second shot with the sign.
Tip* we used AI to create the sign, but feel free to use a printed or hand-written sign pasted somewhere up high!

Shots In A Row Trend
If I make this shot, you must subscribe to our newsletter! Trick shots are hot on TikTok, and businesses are taking aim with pens, a plastic cup, and maybe some help off camera.
This trend is a fun way to get staff involved. With the cup at the bottom of the frame, film 3 or 4 employees tossing pens into the cup for their “shot”, but as soon as the pen flies off screen, someone behind the camera drops one into the cup.
Bonus Tip: Showing behind the scenes of this trend is popular!
